Creative Producing

Alongside my own practice, I also work as a creative producer, supporting artists, organisations and communities to develop accessible, thoughtful creative projects. My work spans performing arts, visual arts and heritage, and often takes place in non-arts settings, rooted in communities rather than traditional cultural venues.

I also offer one-to-one creative and professional mentoring and practical support, including website design, with a particular focus on working with people living with chronic illness or neurodivergence.

My approach is collaborative and care-led. I prioritise clear communication, accessibility and wellbeing, shaped by my lived experience of long-term chronic illness, and a belief that everyone should be able to live creatively.

I listen to what people want and need, and then help put the practical structures in place to make things happen. I value flexibility, kindness and clarity, and aim to create working environments where people feel supported to do their best work.

I'm currently working with some brilliant creative folk, including cultural consultant Sophie Fullerlove, theatremaker and opera singer Lucy Mellors on the Gosport Creates project, the wonderful team at Forest Forge Theatre Company, and early-years theatre maker Hannah Goudie-Hunter.

Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to have worked with some incredible creative individuals and organisations including Culture in Common, The Spring Arts and Heritage Centre, Hampshire Cultural Trust, Music Fusion, Wellcome Trust, Battersea Arts Centre, Apples and Snakes, Paines Plough, Half Moon and so many more.

I hold a Fine Arts degree from Elam School of Fine Arts in Auckland and received an Arts Council England Developing Your Creative Practice grant in 2023.

GET IN TOUCH

Here's a little snapshot of some of the wonderful creative projects I've supported of the years...

Kind words from lovely people...

'What stands out about Jemma is her empathetic and compassionate approach. She has a particularly strong understanding of the barriers faced by artists with neurodiversity, mental health conditions and others who may struggle to navigate the infrastructure of the cultural sector. She uses her knowledge and approach to support artists and produce programmes of work that have a big impact on audiences and participants. I hugely admire Jemma’s patience and her ability to listen, support and encourage those who can benefit from additional support, whilst maintaining high quality artistic results.'

Sophie Fullerlove

Cultural Consultant and Theatre Producer

'Working with Jemma is completely brilliant. I have hugely benefited from her knowledge and experience of providing accessible creative opportunities, her consideration of diverse needs and her deep commitment to wellbeing. I feel so lucky to work with her and know her!'

Lucy Mellors

Theatre Maker, Writer and Opera Singer
